Application for Admission to Practice Before the Supreme Court of Eritrea

Admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Eritrea is an invitation to participate in a historic institution-building project. The Court has been established to help cultivate an independent judiciary, strengthen constitutional government, and promote the rule of law through realistic judicial practice and public legal education. By participating, advocates contribute not only to the resolution of individual cases but also to the development of judicial precedents, constitutional jurisprudence, and institutional traditions that may one day assist a democratic Eritrea. The purpose of this application is not to exclude capable applicants, but to enable the Court to understand each applicant's legal background, professional experience, and potential contribution to this long-term national endeavor. We warmly welcome lawyers and legally trained professionals who share this vision and wish to help build the foundations of an independent judiciary for Eritrea.

Admission Requirements

The Supreme Court of Eritrea is being built through voluntary public service. Its Justices, advocates, and supporting personnel contribute their time and professional expertise to the larger mission of building an independent judiciary and strengthening constitutional government in Eritrea. Because the Court operates with limited resources, it seeks to admit advocates who are capable of contributing at the highest professional level. Well-prepared advocacy not only assists the Court in deciding individual cases but also strengthens constitutional precedent, reduces the burden on volunteer Justices, and helps build the judicial foundations of a future democratic Eritrea. Admission is therefore not intended as a barrier to participation, but as a commitment to excellence and institution-building.
